EDI Level 2 General Purpose Security Dog Handler
The Level 2 Award for a General Purpose Security Dog Handler provides trainees with the skills, knowledge and understanding required to work with a trained security dog. This is the British standard and industry recognised entry level qualification, with three modules to include handler responsibilities, handling skills and communication techniques.

NTIPDU Level 3 General Purpose Security Dog Handler
The Level 3 Award for a Security Dog and Handler Team aims to increase the range of skills gained during the DEI Level 2, while further developing the bond and communication between the Handler and their own Canine partner.

NTIPDU Level 2 Narcotics Detection Dog Handler
The Level 2 Award for Narcotic Detection Dog Handler provides trainees with the skills, knowledge and understanding required to work with a trained Narcotics Detection Dog. AlphaGuardK9 recommend completing our EDI Level 2 General Purpose Security Dog Handler course prior to Narcotics Detection training.

Continuation Training (CPD)
Designed for the Continued Professional Development of security dog & handler, and meeting all the requirements to keep your EDI accreditation valid. The current requirement is 4 Continuation Training sessions per year, and we encourage handlers to undertake monthly training.

What skills and experience do I need?
A full UK driving licence, confidence with dogs and to be suitably physically fit for the role are essential prior to training. Some security experience is beneficial.

Do I need a dog to complete the EDI Level 2 course?
It is better to develop your own skills with a trained security dog, and we provide a number of dogs you can work with.

How long is the Level 3 training course?
The Level 3 is modular and takes place over a period of time, generally 6 to 12 months. The hours required to pass each module may vary for each dog and handler team.
Each discipline requires up to two days of training which is then reinforced with a period of your own practice.
